2015’s Spectre had a new star — a Land Rover Defender four-door customized specifically for the Bond film. Anyone who wanted their own had a big job on their hands, that is, until now.
Himalaya are releasing a limited run of Spectre Defenders replicated after the one in the bond film, with a few ‘proper’ upgrades. The biggest is under the hood, where the ancient 182 horsepower, 3.9-liter V8 has been replaced with an LS3 Corvette V8 making 525 horsepower. There is also a choice of a Cummins diesel or a Whipple supercharged LS3, if the normally-aspirated version just isn’t enough. A six-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels via a rebuilt Land Rover transfer case, with stronger axles, Brembo brakes, and a four-inch lift. The frame and body panels are all sourced from England, and an external Safety Devices exo-cage keeps everything safe if you manage to get it on the roof. Himalaya is taking orders for the Specter Defender now. Best of all, its got ApplePlay. A rugged, car with all the modern gadgets you’d want for day to day use.
