One of our favourite brands of the moment, Vollebak, has gone and done it again by pushing the boundaries of what we think apparel is. The first time we featured the forward-thinking brand we called them the ‘Tesla Of Outdoor Clothing’ and they’re back at it again, proving why they really deserve that title. Vollebak is taking aim the growing issue of ‘throw-away tech’ (theres currently 50 million tonnes of electronic waste that’s generated every year) by repurposing e-waste to create its first attempt at its ‘Garbage’ watch. In collaboration with the Wallpaper* Re-Made project, the Garbage Watch takes raw materials destined for the rubbish bin like microchips, motherboards, and TV wiring to make this one of a kind timepiece, all containing many of the world’s most precious metals such as silver, platinum, copper, nickel, cobalt, aluminium, zinc and even 7% of the worlds gold. So whats the result? It’s different thats for sure. A clash of visible, standout colours on its skeleton-like dial and housed in its rectangular case its something that looks like it belongs in a Back To The Future movie, but we love it. But don’t go getting too excited just yet, the piece is still in development and is fixed for a 2021 release. You can however, join the waiting list here.
