Quick! The Pubs Are Open

Alfresco dining and pub gardens will be a staple of your summer dining experience this year. But don’t settle for some half-dead, vibe killing patio garden tucked in the back of a ‘FullHouse’. Head to where those perfect surroundings and the life-altering scenery is at. Below we’ve pulled together a selection of some of the best pubs to visit this summer.

Cary Arms & Spa, Devon

Surrounded by the perfect scenery, lunch goers will regularly spy seals and dolphins from this immaculate terrace during their dining experience which is tucked in the crook of Babbacombe Bay. Some of the best views and food in Devon. We recommend you order: The Otter Ale & Local Fish Dish.

The Mortal Man, The Lake District

Set in the pristine hills above the famous lake Windermere, this traditional English inn overlooks the rolling fields of of Troutbeck Valley and lake Windermere herself. Believe it or not, this incredible setting has managed to stay largely off the tourist track and is currently one of the only local pubs to do so where you’ll get a traditional northern welcome and a host of incredible drinks and home-cooked food. Time to visit before everyone finds out. We recommend you order: Sally Birkett’s Cask Ale which was named after the first landlady and specially brewed for this pub only.

The Charlton Arms, Ludlow

Set on the River Teme you can watch the gaggles of baby ducklings cruise down the river in the sunshine as you tuck into some of the finest local offers at this truly picturesque Shropshire Pub which is set on the historic Ludford Bridge and boasts two huge waterside terraces. We recommend you order: Shropshire Cider and (on Sunday’s) the rare-roast pork with all the trimmings. Delicious.

Crown & Anchor, Chichester

Built at the end of the 16th Century, the Crown & Anchor has one of the most unrivalled positions on Chichester Harbour. Their location offers stunning views from Dell Quay Marina, from both our indoor restaurant and large waterside terrace as well as a host of incredibly fresh seafood. We recommend you order: The Native Lobster with garlic butter and seaweed fries.
